How often do orchestra classes meet?

Orchestra is a year-long class that meets every day during one of your two connections classes. 

What if I don't know which instrument I want to play/what would be a good fit?

The best part about orchestra is that our instruments come in different sizes. So, no matter what you want to play, we can find that instrument in the right size for YOU. It's all about what you like the sound of the most. If you want to do it, we can make anything work!

Can I do orchestra AND chorus? 

Absolutely! Some of our BEST musicians at Lovinggood choose to double between orchestra and chorus. Choosing to sing and play and instrument works well together and helps strengthen your music skills TWICE as fast!

When can I join orchestra? 

6th grade is the only time to join. So, if you think you have any interest in learning a string instrument, NOW is the time!

You CANNOT join orchestra as a beginner in 7th or 8th grade.

Do I have to already be a musician to join orchestra? 

No. Everyone starts as a beginner in 6th grade. We learn everything together from day one!

Do I need to buy an instrument? Where should I rent/purchase it? 

Once you have chosen your instrument, it is recommended that you rent an instrument from a local string shop. 

Strings have some of the CHEAPEST rental prices of any instrument, typically starting around $20-25/month for violins and violas. 

The school also has a few older instruments that can be loaned during the school year. However, these are set aside specifically for financial hardship situations. These are first-come-first-served and not guaranteed.
